The Command Engineering Deport in collaboration with the Defence Industries of Nigeria has finally concluded a long time project of building a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected(MRAP)Vehicle and was unveiled on the 3rd of December by President Buhari.
The vehicle was produced in Rigachikun at Kaduna. Ezugwu MRAP (The Armored vehicle) was named after Prof. Emmanuel Ezugwu, who is the Provost of the Nigerian Airforce NAF, the institution of technology. He is the mastermind behind the designs and supervision of military hardware at the Nigerian Airforce.
The idea behind this innovation is to deploy local content and technology to support army operations. And truly 70% of this development was from local content
The armored vehicle is designed to carry troops and it can assault with a high volume of fire.
Another interesting fact about this innovation is that it can operate in cold as well as sweltering desert areas and it is easy to maintain.
MRAP is designed in such a way that it can carry a crew of 12; commander, driver, two gunners, and eight soldiers.
President Muhammadu Buhari was proud of this development and said
“ These armored vehicles that were produced by DICON are testimonies that the government’s effort is yielding positive results.
It is encouraging to note that, the Nigerian Army as a critical element of National power is involved in innovative and inventive ventures to become an Army to be proud of in the future by _all Nigerians

Before the completion of the vehicle the Chief of Army Staff LT. General Tukur Buratai tagged the initiative as a revolution in military affairs, it’s operations, training, general administration, and technical know-how.
