COVID-19: Group of Young Influencers Donates 5 million to Aid Fight Against the Outbreak

Since the fight against covid_19 started, a lot of prominent personalities have contributed to this in cash and kind. Far from expectation, the virus continues to linger and it’s becoming increasingly worrisome by the day. Some states in Nigeria, as well as some countries across the world, has been in a total stay at home and lockdown forcing people to feed on what is available. Meanwhile, how do we excuse less privileged people who feed on daily wages? However, different supports have been meted to reach out to such categories of individuals. Adding to the list is some set of young leaders and influencers in Nigeria who have come together to contribute towards this global fight in their domain.

The gathering of these young leaders who prefer to be called young leaders’ group has strategically implemented monetary donations from individuals who constituted the team. These people have together further awakened the fact that collaboration and willingness are what people need to positively impact this generation through public service, entrepreneurship, empowerment and other selfless acts.

They also clearly stated that though they are aware of government’s effort as well as some other organizations putting all hands on deck yet they still need more support as they can not effectively win this fight all alone.

This group totalling about 101 members have succeeded in raising donations to total an amount of Five million, Two hundred and sixty-seven thousand. The individuals that make up the group are but not limited to Folajimi Lai Mohammed, Alfred Babas, Uzoma Konyeaso, Zainab Galadima, Doyin Alatishe, Shola Ladoja, Marzi A V Orji, Tosin Oshinowo, Sijibomi Ogundele, Joshua J. Omojuwa, Andrew Zidon, Ibidapo Fashina, Hon. Dayo Israel, Sadiq Abacha, Murtala Tukur, Atanda L Fuad, Donald Benibo Wokoma, Onyemelukwe Tochukwu, Habeeb Okunola, Abiodun Osikoya Bizzle, Nkemkanma Kama, Chima Anyaso, Bobo Ajudua, Enniyanna Annumudu, OC and OZ Mbadiwe and Frank Emenike.

This act further proves that support should not only be by words of mouth but by actions. The spokesman for the launching clearly stated their vision to empower each other with which they will be running and their mission.

They didn’t end without soliciting for Nigerians to lend a helping hand to their neighbour even while maintaining social distancing. He added that social distancing should not be interpreted as leaving everyone to their problem. We should rather define it as working together to help keep the less privileged people stay alive and well while keeping ourselves safe.

Also, the group is not going to be limited to support the end of covid_19 alone but also recurring future issues in other sectors.

Again, Mr Ogundele, the spokesman ended by saying everyone should assist by Isolating if symptoms are noticed, Identification of suspected cases and reporting confirmed cases without delay. All of these will help curb this menace as quickly as possible.

We hope to come to the end of covid_19 as soon as possible. Until then, stay safe and social distant yourself.
