365 Days in Office – Ministry for Water Resources Kwara State

Its been a long way since this present administration under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq resumed office, and I want to thank Kwarans for trusting the administration for the last one year.

After celebrating the 365 days of our amiable Governor in office on Friday, I wish to list out all his achievements under the Ministry for Water Resources over the last one year. These achievements include;

1 Immediate approval of funds for the payment of outstanding salaries to workers of the Water Corporation to improve their productivity.

2 Consistent supply of chemicals which is used in treating the water supplied to Kwarans from our waterworks.

3 Rehabilitation of several waterworks within the state for the smooth supply of water to their respective community. These Waterworks are: Asadam Treatment plant (Completed), Lafiagi waterworks (Completed), Patigi Water Works Phase II-(Ongoing), Igbaja Water Works Phase I&II-(Completed), Kaiama Water Works (Completed), Oro-Ago Works (Ongoing), Yashikira Water Works (Completed), Gwanara Water Works (Completed).

Also, repair works are done in some waterworks to enable it to function in full capacity for the effective supply of water to their respective community. These waterworks are: Bode Saadu Water Works, Elemere waterworks, Edidi waterworks, Irra waterworks, Odo-Owa waterworks, Ojoku waterworks, Agbeyangi waterworks, Shonga waterworks, Rogun waterworks, Isanlu Isin waterworks, Oloru waterworks and Obo-Ile Water Works.

4 Provision of boreholes to different communities to enable them have access to effective water supply. These places are Ipata Market, Koro-Afoju, Shutta, Isale-Koko, Ita-Elepa/Garage Offa, Adefalu/Okelele, Ilesha Baruba, Shiya, Sinawa, Kenu, Tabira, Okuta, Boriya, Kosubosu, Gwanara, Geasoro e.t.c.

Also, there is the provision of 5 motorized boreholes, four pump boreholes and twenty repairs of damaged boreholes in Asa and Kaima LGA.

5 We have also maintained consistent water supply to main Hospitals in Ilorin Metropolis. These hospitals include Kwara State General Hospital, Ilorin, Sobi Specialist Hospital, Center Igboro Children Hospital.

6 The renovation of five elevated tanks within the state capital is also done. The location of these tanks is Unity Road Overhead Tank, Kwara Hotel Overhead Tank, Umar Audi Road Overhead Tank, Akerebiata Overhead Tank and Olanrewaju/Offa Garage Tank.

7 Reticulation and Interconnection of mainline to improve the distribution of water in some areas within the state capital. These areas include Alagbado Ductile Iron Pipe(Completed), Agba Road Interconnection(Completed), Awolowo Road Interconnect (Ongoing), Oke-Ose Interconnection (Ongoing).

8 Also, the rehabilitation of Phase 1 concrete tanks (world cups) which has been abandoned for a while is currently ongoing. The essence of the rehabilitation works on these tanks is to ensure communities close to the tanks have access to a smooth water supply.

9 Lastly, I want to appreciate the Governor for his efforts in improving the well-being of Kwarans through the effective supply of water to their communities.

10 Also, I want to praise the workers of the Ministry for Water Resources and the State Water Corporation for their efforts in ensuring these projects are concluded within a short period of time.

11 However, I want to urge Kwarans to keep supporting this administration for the growth and development of our beloved state.
