The rate at which females are underrated cannot be overemphasized. It is something that has bothered the current growing generation and almost limiting them. It’s exciting to see the jinx is being broken.
About one month ago, Aghogho Ojarikre took to his Linkedin profile to share a picture post with a caption celebrating one Ofugara Hetty Otome, a Nigerian from Uvwwie, Delta state, who has been promoted to the rank of a Commander in the US Navy.
The post attracted reactions from Nigerians some of which are captured below:
Njideka Anyanwu said, “Very brilliant officer. Very proud of her. She was my schoolmate at the University of Port Harcourt where she also excelled in her undergraduate studies. Her son is also in the force with her. Keep pushing Hetty. Keep breaking the Boundaries. #friendsforlife.”
Tola (Bhadmus) Arowa LL.B, BL, HRBP (PHRi) also said, “Congratulations ma’am. It’s heartwarming to see you shattering ceilings and redefining standards…”
This information was later verified on the official website of the US Navy.
It’s intriguing to see Nigerians raising the bar both home and abroad.
Dear Ofugara Hetty Otome, people like you inspire us greatly.
