The joy of Nigerians knew no bounds, as Ese Bruce was announced as the winner of the long jump women’s category.
Brume topped her game with a leap of 6.97m against Mihambo’s leap of 6.83m at the first of six attempts.
She went on and on in victory up until her final leap of 6.90m leaving her as the award-winning bronze medalist in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Ese Brume an Urhobo girl from Ughelli Delta state has had a record of victory while contesting at the African senior championship in the long jump. She had a personal best of 7.17m.
In the multitude of congratulatory messages, the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege said sent his congratulatory message. Brume won her medal on Tuesday, 3rd of August which was also his birthday. He said her win was the best birthday gift.
As congratulatory messages were flowing in, the Minister for Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare awarded Ese Brume with a cash prize of $7500 in a ceremony held at Grand Prince Hotel, Tokyo Japan on Tuesday
