Enugu State Experiences Educational Transformation

Enugu state is located in the Eastern part of Nigeria. A state endowed with natural resource They are regarded as the coal city of the nation.

Before now, the educational sector of the state suffered a shortage, especially in infrastructure. Also, the availability of the teachers in the state was poor.

But the present government has decided to turn the lights on towards the educational system.  The present Governor; Ifeanyi Ugwangi has demonstrated special interest towards the educational sector, through the magnitude of resources wired into education alone. The commissioner for education; Prof. Uche Eze, acknowledged the special interest the government has in the well being of school children in the state and made known the commitment of the government towards education, which is to, bring all classrooms to a level that will make learning environment conducive.

In a bid to achieve this objective, the state government has spent resources in renovating close to 900 classroom blocks, including toilet facilities across the 17 LGA of the state, 9.8 billion naira has been spent within the last four years for primary education. Alongside this development, the state government has also marked out many others to be renovated.

The development of the educational sector did not end there, he also employed 3,530 primary school teachers.

In 2019, the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB) distributed 22,150 chairs for primary school children, 1228 table,1228 armchairs, 2,456 armless chairs for teachers, 1130 marker boards for teaching and 1960 ceiling fans.

Statistics show that from 1999 to  2014, this level of renovation done by the present administration supersedes that of previous administrations.
