Nigerian Archbishop Provides Shelter For an Armless Young Girl

Bars are high and muscles are serving the hustles. This is Nigeria. It’s a land where survival is only meant for the fittest but sadly the unfit also crave to survive.

Meet Ada Aniwetalu who has been armless right from birth. She hails from the Umuazu Nteje community in the Oyi Council Area of Anambra state. Her deformity did not affect her dreams. She strove just like every other Nigerian on the street.
21-year-old Aniwetalu lifts things with her legs, writes with her toes and she does her normal chores all with her foot.

Her courageous nature was noticed and brought to the attention of the Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Valerian Okeke. Moved by her story, Archbishop as well as other kind-hearted members built a bungalow for Aniwetalu and her friend who took care of her. Aniwetalu’s 3 bedroom bungalow was thoroughly furnished. The kitchen was well stocked with foodstuff that would last for about six months, an 8KVA power generator for a steady power supply, CCTV cameras, standard boreholes, and other facilities to make the house comfortable.

One will think that a freely built apartment was a great deal for a philanthropist like Archbishop, but no he went further by securing Aniwetalu access to free education through scholarship.

The house opening was done quietly with the presence of a few members of the church and Senator Victor Umeh, who expressed his gratitude for the privilege of been a part of the project and encouraged the Archbishop to continue in his good deeds as that is the true essence of the church.
