Recently, a US envoy led by Mary Beth Leonard has rained accolades on the Nigerian, Akwa Ibom State Government after a courtesy visit to the Government House in Uyo, the state capital.
Before now, the state government had some ongoing projects in the state, said to have been funded by the United States. Ambassador M. B. Leonard apparently came to ascertain the state of the projects especially with a lot of constraints that might have affected the projects with the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
On seeing the development, the US envoy couldn’t withhold their excitement as they expressed their delight over what they saw. They commended the effort of the government over the investments made by the Akwa Ibom state government in the health sector. They further iterated that the state government is a model in the pandemic management and fundamental support for the USAID projects in the state.
Appreciating the kind words, Governor Emmanuel asked for deeper synergy with the United States of America and also solicited for partnership with the state in the implementation of American government-assisted programmes for effective monitoring, transparency, and benefits for the people.
In recent times, Akwa Ibom was seen to have been ranked as one of the best performing states in the 2020 sub-national budget transparency survey. Indeed, Akwa Ibom state government is making Nigeria proud
