UNILAG Constructs a Zero Emission Vehicle

In accordance with the universal drive to minimize global warming and minimize acoustic noise of vehicles, the University of Lagos approved the initiative of Zero Emission Vehicle(ZEV) in 2018.

The initiative was birth out of the University’s effort to curb the release of toxic carbon emissions to the environment from internal combustion vehicles.
With the team led, Prof. Samson Adeosun, a professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, the ZEV was beautifully completed and test-driven around the campus in the amazement of in lookers.

UNILAG ZEV was made with 63 percent hardware and 100 percent software homemade (Akoka content) mechatronics automobile device.
UNILAG ZEV has a battery pack and an electric motor that drives the wheel of the car rather than the usual combustion engine.

The well-built ZEV can comfortably carry a total of 8 passengers including the driver. It has two seats at the front and two rows at the back seat which can carry 3 passengers in each row.

In absolute support of the ZEV, the Vice-chancellor of Unilag said, the institution is neck-deep into demand driving research. And if the necessary support is given especially through funds, the University will do more.
