
Prof Charles Egbu is a seasoned educationist who is channelling his expertise and experience into the world in divers ways. He is a native of Abatete, Odemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Prof Charles is a foremost Surveyor by profession whose interests is in project management, construction management, and sustainable development. He is a recognized authority in the aforementioned fields as well as in Refurbishment Management, and Health & Safety in Construction.
Prof Charles has a PhD in Construction Management from the University of Salford and an Advanced Professional Diploma in Research Awards Supervision (APDRAS) from Leeds Metropolitan University. He began his Academic Career at Salford University.
As a seasoned educationist he has written 15books to his name and has contributed to over 350publications, journals and conferences.
He was previously the Dean of the Built Environment and Architecture at the London South Bank University as well as member of various relevant bodies.
Prof Charles is the 116th President of the Chartered Institute of Building. While delivering his speech at the inaugural ceremony for his presidential appointment, He spoke about his drive and motivation.
In his words, “I work with young people closely. They are flexible and dynamic. They are smart and focused. They have great powers of empathy. But they won’t stick with something if there’s no motivation to do so. The educational journey itself is a stressful one, No wonder that they are putting such high emphasis on working with organisations who understand the importance of mental health.”
Prof Charles is the current Pro Vice Chancellor for Education and Experience at the University of East London.
