In the history of humanity, the only person recorded to have courageously laid down his life for the people he loved was Jesus Christ and the record has yet remained unbroken and unbeatable. Often times, we see a movie where actors play that scene and we are moved with compassion.
Here today is bringing to your hearing that in reality, circumstances and happenstances have made some people make a heroic mark in the sand of time and hearts of men.
One is this indefatigable woman of worth and value, Sister Henrietta Alokha, the Principal of Bethlehem Girls College, Abule Ado, Lagos Mainland who has been recorded to have imitated such act in a challenging manner.
Following the recent gas explosion that occurred on Sunday 15th March 2020 at Lagos Mainland, this fire outbreak overtook businesses, lands and housings of about 100 buildings, as well as Lorries, cars, bikes, were lost to this irredeemable blast. One of the buildings that were involved happened to be the Bethlehem Girls’ College boarding house hostel. The school recorded to be a boarding school attended by more than 250 pupils.
The fire outbreak affected the students who laid peacefully in their hostels. In a bid to rescue the students from the explosion, Henrietta stayed back in the fire. As I write, none of the students of the school is recorded dead. Unfortunately, Henrietta couldn’t make it out of the fire alive.
We commend this heroic act and we pray that her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
