Goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie proved to be the team’s MVP! Since the start of the 2019 African Games, Nigeria has been dominating in both men’s and women’s football. Last night the Nigerian women’s national under-20 team took that dominance all the way to the finals, beating Cameroon 3-2 on penalties to claim the gold medal. Nigeria and Cameroon were in group B and their first clash in the group stage ended in 1-1 but Nigeria had the highest goal difference and also dominated Algeria 3-0 in the knockout stage.
At the finals Cameroon almost made the falconets settle for silver through penalties but Nigeria Chiamaka Nnadozie, who set a record a few months ago at the 2019 Women’s World Cup, came through for the team by saving three successive penalty kicks. With this win, Nigeria has recorded its third gold medal in women’s football in the history of the African Games.
