Japanese Government Commended Nigerian Men for the First Time Ever

There is always a first time to everything, the first time to hatch and first to hit; so keep pushing.

On the 1st of December, 2020, Yobe State residents, Prof. Mohammed Dauda and Prof. James C. Ogbonna received a commendation from the Japanese government as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan announced the recipients of the Foreign Minister’s Commendations for FY 2020 of which they happen to be amongst this year’s recipients.

According to the press release of the embassy of Japan, the Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, in order to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas. The Commendations also aim to promote the understanding and support of the Japanese public for the activities of the recipients.

History has it that, this will be the first time Nigerians will be a beneficiary of the commendation. More reasons why it attracted so many jubilations.

Prof. James C. Ogbonna, while reacting to the honour said, “This honour will definitely motivate me to make more efforts to improve on the relationship between the two countries.”

Prof. Mohammed Dauda, in the same vein, said, “The award wouldn’t have been possible without the support of NAIJAA members and the encouragement the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) management and so many people including my family members, students, mentees, colleagues and the general public.”

Nigerians have been known to have great reputations both within and abroad. In deeds, the wave of our tide is travelling beyond the border. We won’t stop shinning like the star that we are.
