FREE EDUCATION: One of Nigeria’s Kings Built and Finances a School for The Less Privileged in Osun State

At Osun State, Nigeria, Abolarin College situated at Oke-Ila is reported to have been built by one Oba Adedokun Omoniyi Abola which is now the talk of the town.

There are several schools doing great in the state and in the country as a whole but these things made Abolarin College outstanding. The students of the school enjoy free education and free social amenities ranging from hostel to food, water, internet, uniform, laptop, and 24hours uninterrupted power supply. All of these with no fee attached for every student of the school. The school is evidently financed by this Oba Adedokun.

One more fascinating thing about the school is that the criteria for getting admitted are to be poor or less privileged to access education. In retrospect, any child whose parent(s) can afford to sponsor their education is denied access.

According to the news, one major objective of the school and its founder is to give the poor in society access to quality education just like the rich. The overall vision is to strengthen the hope of the less privileged and make them see that they have a great future like any other person and their backgrounds shouldn’t put their backs on the ground.

In an interview with the King and Founder of the school, he says, he believes the future doesn’t only belong to those born with a silver spoon in their mouths. News also has it that, the King holds a degree and Masters in Law and he currently teaches in the school. How humbling!

The vision to invest in the education of the leaders of tomorrow and to reduce the level of illiteracy in the land is highly commendable. Another distinguishing factor for Abolarin College is that they don’t discriminate religion or tribe. Everything they do is channeled towards sharpening the knowledge and brilliance of the less privileged.

Since the school officially opened, some young children have been beneficiaries of this philanthropist act with many of them having previous records of having hawked pepper, sachet water, fruits, etc. Some came from farms where all they did was work under the hot sun weeding and planting. Many are orphans, child labourers, delinquents, children of petty traders, but now they have hope, and not just hope for a bright future.

We commend and appreciate this king for embarking on this journey to transform lives. All Hail Kabiyesi Oba Adedokun Omoniyi Abola!
