The agricultural sector of Osun state is about to experience a revolution through the collaboration of CBN and AFEX exchange.
AFEX is an initiative of the government, charged with the responsibility of providing solutions to help Africa feed itself. One of the major objectives of AFEX is to ensure that the value of farmers and other participants is maximized.
At Osun state, improved seedlings, access to credit facilities, regular training on how to further improve the quality of produce as well as the required certification, are the strategies to maximize the profit of farmers. And about 2,000 farmers will benefit from 2021 the cocoa planting session.
At the official flag-off of the cocoa planting season, the representative of Gov. Adegboyega Oyetola; Mr. Benedict Alabi, said the collaboration will enhance the economic potentials of the state.
While Mr. Ayodeji Balogun, the CEO AFEX said, “We are trying to make sure that by next year, we are going to see if we can raise it to over 10,000 farmers who will be able to access inputs, benefit from the partnership with us, and so on.”
Mrs. Adebayo the representative of CBN said,
“I can assure you that the CBN and AFEX in conjunction with the Osun state government are ready to help the farmers. We are poised to support the farmers through development finance. “We understand finance is the problem of farmers and small-scale industries. This is the main reason why we are here to lend our support especially now that the farming season is commencing.”
