Creative Nigerian Youths gets the Attention of Nigerian Air Force

A group of four boys creatively constructed an aeroplane at Ilorin Kwara State. The magnitude of their work caught the attention of the Chief of Air Staff (CAS).

The high wing aeroplane took the secondary school graduates three years to assemble. According to one of the young boys, they’ve been constructing remote control aeroplanes and they discovered everybody was into it, so they decided to step up their game by building a higher wing aircraft.

Their well-exhibited creativity on social media got the young talented youths; Mr Musa Aliyu, Mr Abdulateef Anafi, Mr Abbas Jamiu and Mr Jimoh Ahmed a trip sponsored by NAF to NAF Base Kaduna, where the NAF has its R&D Centre as well as some of its Engineering and Flying training institutions.

At Kaduna, they were shown the processes involved in R&D as it relates to both manned and unmanned aircraft at the Air Force Research and Development Centre (AFRDC). They also met with some R&D specialist and some aerospace engineers who work with NAF. They were shown the basic mechanisms of aircraft flying, the components of an aircraft, maintenance and repairs at 401 Flying Training School and 431 Engineering Group. They were also kept abreast on necessary courses to study to become a maintenance or design engineers for aircraft systems at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT).

The CAS said it has been the practice of the NAF to encourage young talents especially one geared towards aviation. The NAF promised support to the boys in order to harness their potentials.

The secondary school leavers appreciated the opportunity to visit the NAF Kaduna State and hoped the opportunity given by NAF, they will enable the continuation of their education.
