Amazing! Nigerian Graduate Fabricates Stove in One Day

Akenyin Oloruntoba is a native of Ondo state, Ilaje Local Government Area. He is currently a welder and an Iron bender. A fresh Higher National Diploma Graduate who studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Auchi Polytechnic, Edo state. He is currently waiting to be mobilized for the compulsory one-year service to his nation, Nigeria.

Recently, he took to his Facebook page where he shared pictures of the process and making of a metal stove with the caption, “Youths are creative. Nigerian Youths are not lazy. All we need our empowerment. My handwork. Nigeria made stove by me.” This post attracted lots of comments as many congratulated him and wished him well.

Curiosity made OfficialGoodNigeria fix an interview to know how this big dream crafted in a short social media post came to be.

Being an engineering student, what propelled your passion for the area of welding?

“I had learnt welding and Iron bending as a handwork before I gained admission to the university.”

Having learnt that handwork, anyone would suppose you should study Materials and Metallurgical Engineering in school, why did you study Electrical and Electronics Engineering instead?

“I studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering to follow my passion and I have always loved to pursue a career in it, as well.”

Now, that you have these two great knowledge et skill, how do you intend to maximize it?

“My plan is to take welding into the digital world through the use of electronics. E.g. producing a digital gate.”

Wow! The great vision you have there. How long did it take you to finish the process?

“It took me one day. It’s a day’s job.”

Any final words for people who have got big dreams like you?

“Be focused and never give up.”

No skill learnt is ever a waste neither a profession nor career pursued. The only thing is to learn how to channel it in the right direction.
