The primary aim of medicals is to save lives first by providing healthcare services to the needy, every other thing is secondary.
While the motto of the medical association is “We care but God heals” yet we all know how far care can go and so many bad health occurrences that can be averted with that singular act.
This is the case of the 11patients who had a heart problem and were given free surgical treatments in Lagos State Teaching Hospital(LASUTH).
The brilliant move was made possible on the occasion of a collaboration with a Non-Governmental Organization, Kanu Heart Foundation and Emergency whose primary purpose is to ensure continuity in providing humanitarian services to the indigent patients without having to worry about travelling abroad for access facilities and meet seasoned doctors.
The surgeries were recorded to be successful and the collaboration led to the transfer of skills to LASUTH Doctors.
